The prompt for 2nd August 2015 is: Vintage/Retro
This could be an image of something vintage or retro if that tickles your fancy but my main reason for posting this prompt is to try to inspire you to create an image, through a mixture of both composition and post production editing that results in an image that has a retro/vintage feel. Don’t think your image has to be edited in sepia tones either, as you will see from the examples below, colour images can be made to look retro too.
This image by Penny combines a retro 60’s outfit with a colour vintage edit that gives it those slight muted tones of an old photograph – Eeyore’s Birthday
This one is less about the editing and really just about the fabulous 70’s disco outfit – Funk N’roll
This is a fabulous combination of outfit and editing to create a vintage pin-up girl look – Pinup
This one might not exactly be vintage but I think it has a really interesting retro feel to it reminiscent of the 1950’s with both the combination of the pencil skirt and black strap heals and the colour filter – Pencil Skirt
Classic but beautiful combination of pearls and a sepia edit – Impatience
Pearls again in this one, but with the long skirt and the proper cup and saucer it has a real Victorian feel – Sinful Sunday Tea
As always what you make of the prompt is entirely up to you, the links are purely to give you some framework to what Retro/Vintage can look like.
The prompt is published here on the site mid month, which will give people approximately 2 weeks to work on their idea before linking in, on the 1st weekend of the month. The prompt is completely optional and you can link in as normal on that weekend whether you have used the prompt or not. The usual Sinful Sunday rules will, of course, apply. Please make sure you have read them recently so that you are fully aware of what is and is not allowed.
As always interpret as you wish, or disregard altogether and do you own thing.
