Sinful Sunday Weekly Round-up 304

Some of the monthly prompts inspire more than others. That is the nature of the beast when it comes to these things and it can be very hard to predict which ones will get everyone’s creative juices flowing and which won’t. Minimalism was one I felt would stretch people’s skills but I also hoped that it might inspire folks to explore a style of image that they had previously not attempted. I think the list of entries speaks for itself when it comes to seeing if that was achieved. As a result my job this month was a tough but very enjoyable one.

Hush: It’s a Secret

One of the key things about minimalist photography is using negative space to create an impact. Parallel Secrets has used that concept to great effect here. The plug sits in solitary isolation on what is clearly a bed, hinting at it use but what is really clever in this image is that the negative space, the creased sheet, adds to the narrative of this shot.

Tabitha Rayne

When I first looked at this image I got completely lost in the Tabitha’s face because it is definitely the dominating feature in this image. It was only when I went back to it that I noticed the title and how the light above her head makes us the ones ‘holding still’ so that Tabitha can look at us. It has an eerie, clinical feel to it that gives me goosebumps.

Teachers Have Sex

This will be her last Sinful Sunday for a while as she is off on some adventures but she has definitely ended her current run on a high point with this beautifully shot image. The focal point is absolutely spot on, right at the head of the pinwheel whilst the rest of the image which is soft and delicate provides both context and contrast.

Exhibit A

This one has an slight retro erotic art feel to it. I think it is the slight graininess and the lack of contrast that gives the impression of it being taken on something other than a digital camera but what I really like about this shot is how the ladder dissects Exhibit A’s body into parts. I think this is an inspired and very clever piece of photography.

Orgasms and Wine

I love this shot. The dark black of her underwear is in stark contrast to the white or her skin and the background but I really like about this image is the complimenting curves, there is the curve of her hip, the curve of the panties across her tummy and the curve of the bra that arches up between her breasts and finally the little series of scalloped curves across the top of her thigh. It is so simple but so beautifully done.

Sinful Sunday Week 182 – Maria Open’s Up

Look what I found lingering back in week 182. A minimalist image! There is stunningly little detail in this image and yet what there is is incredibly powerful. We can just make out the wooden rafters and the light around Maria’s body reveals just enough to show that she is naked but the fact her face is lost in the darkness means we can only guess why, is she happy, scared, feeling powerful or powerless. Your imagination must decide.
