Sinful Sunday Triptych COMPETITION

18th March 2014

It has been rather a while since we have done a proper competition with actual prizes but I have been feeling the urge to lay down a really good challenge to all you creatives out there and with some great prizes now confirmed from That Position, Angels Sex Toys, A Touch of Glass and Tie and Tease it is all systems go!

The next Sinful Sunday competition which will take place on the 6th APRIL 2014. (page opens for entries 10.00pm 5th APRIL 2014 & closes 10.00am 7th April 2014. UK time)

THE THEME

Sinfully Triptych

The word triptych comes the Greek tri, i.e. “three” and ptysso, i.e. “to fold” or ptyx, i.e. “fold”) and is a work of art (usually a panel painting) that is divided into three sections, or three carved panels which are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open. Triptychs came about as a form of early Christian art and are still commonly found in many churches today. However this is about photography, not works of religious art and the style and form of triptychs lend themselves perfectly to photography.

So your task is to create a triptych image (that you would never find on the altar of a church) Your triptych maybe one image split into 3 or 3 images centred around a theme. Either way, the point of a Triptych is to, in some form or other, create a relationship between the 3 panels which tell a ‘story’ or represent a thought/idea/concept.

Traditionally Triptychs always had a larger centre panel with two smaller panels each size but you do not have to stick to this layout. Your Triptych can be horizontal or vertical and the panels can be of equal size or not in any configuration but there must be ONLY 3 panels. The subject matter is completely up to you, but there should be some hint or suggestion of the erotic at the very least.

Below I have listed a few links to various examples of Triptych photography (not all erotic) so you can see the possible layouts and how artists use this style in various different ways. This is truly just a tiny example of what you can do with this idea and I strongly suggest you google Triptych Photography for yourself and take a look at more examples.

I am aware that this idea will require you to do some post photography editing to achieve the required result. If anyone needs any help with that then please do get in touch and if you need photography editing software and can’t afford to buy one then I highly recommend GIMP

3 images not formed into some sort of Triptych style will not be considered for the competition.

I am NOT imposing a word limit but please try to keep it to a minimum. Remember this is Sinful Sunday and is meant to be ALL about the image.

So just to clarify:

  • Your post must contain a Triptych style image to be considered for the competition

THE RULES

1. Your entry must contain at least one Triptych photograph (this is still Sinful Sunday after all, which is all about the image) It must be a photograph you took or someone took for you. You may include more than one image in your post

2. You must follow the normal guidelines for Sinful Sunday and use the badge to link your post back here.

3. Only ONE entry per blog

4. To be eligible for the competition your post must be inspired by the theme. (see above)

5. Please make sure your post is clearly marked as a competition entry. If you wish to still link into Sinful Sunday on that day but not be included in the competition that is fine, there will be a separate link in list for non competition entries.

THE PRIZES

I will post a full list of the prizes in the week prior to the competition but I can tell you that we have prizes from That Position, Angel’s Sex Toys , A Touch of Glass and the sexy BDSM board game Tie and Tease to giveaway.

THE JUDGES

The  judging panel will, as usual, consist of myself  and @Domsigns and….. well that will be revealed nearer the time. As per usual there will be 6 winners picked from all the entries who will receive a prize and a winner badge to display on their blog if they so wish.

there are a number of free photography apps available on the net that can take pictures and make them into a triptych or other group of photos on one file

GIMP looks cool but also highly intimidating to me
perfect for a photoshop style option
but if something simple is needed….

    so far i recommend PicMonkey
    http://www.picmonkey.com
do what you like to your picture there, save and then add the pics into a collage
you can alter how many panels/pictures you want to show

otherwise i am looking at this app
    PicPac Camera
but can’t seem to find it for laptop/desktop computers

and this one looks interesting with lots of options

Thanks Shalla, this is great. Picmonkey looks good but Fotor seems to have some T & C’s referring to adult content so people might want to watch out for that if their images are particularly graphic

dunno… is that in terms of making and keeping the pic or if you share it?

for any pic i do on a site, 90% of the time i save it to my computer and then upload privately when i want to but some people edit their image and then directly “share” to another account and that might cause SFW vs NSFW issues

I use PicMonkey all the time and if you see I have some adult pics in there. I have never had a issue and I always save to my PC. I have been using them for months now and have yet to have anything happen to me.

  2. We’re glad to be able to sponsor your competitions once again! Certainly looking forward to some sexy images…and hopefully coming up with a trio ourselves!

Looks I’m going to have to get permission to play, because I love the triptych. Such a beautiful way of expressing art. <3

Can't wait to see everyone's entries.

    xoxo
