Sinful Sunday Weekly Round-up 174

It's all about the image

Sinful Sunday Weekly Round-up 174

There is a new monthly prompt for September, you can find all the details on Monthly Prompt 9 which gives you just over 2 weeks to work on your photographs.

With regards to this weeks top 5, and I know I say this often, but it really was an almost impossible task this week. I got there in the end but I do feel like I was forced to leave out too many good posts as a result. Sometimes the top 5 just seem to pick themselves and sometimes, like this week, I have to work hard to make a selection that no matter how hard I try never feels very satisfactory quite simple because the only way that could be achieved would be to have a top 10.

This weeks top 5 pics

Frisky in the 916

frisky in the 916

This picture has a really seductive film noir feel to it. The muted tones give it a vintage almost timeless feel which make me think of 1930’s America or 1960’s Paris. it also has a great voyeuristic feel to it, she appears to be utterly unaware of the ‘eyes’ upon her and as a result we languish at her feet full of wide eyed curiosity.  I have long been of the opinion that Jack has a keen and accomplished eye when it comes to photography and this image only serves to cement that opinion even more.

Maria Opens Up

ladies bra on table with curtains blowing over them

As I said in my comment on this post, I am utterly captivated by this image. It captures something about summer without actually really showing you summer. The flutter of curtains imply an open window and the gentle breath of a summer breeze but this image takes on meaning when combined with its very simple and yet powerful title; 5.30am. Is she just going to bed, or just waking up, either option is filled with erotic possibilities.

Remittance Girl

Woman laying on tree in graveyard nude

Yes this is me, but I didn’t take this picture I just lay in the tree and let RG have at me with her camera. It was a novel experience for both of us, I am usually the one with the camera, although I am also often the one in the tree too but taking self portraits is a completely different experience/craft to just being the model and for RG is was her first time ‘photographing a nude’. This shot wasn’t planned or discussed before hand it truly was a spur of the moment thing and for once I just lay back and let someone else dissect me. What I love about this shot is the grittiness, the harsh contrast between my skin and the bark but also the way the branches in the foreground seem to be opening up to consume me.

Gritty Woman

Photograph of buttocks that look like a giant moon

I think this picture is absolute genius, the lighting is truly perfect making it feel just like a scene from a sci-fi movie where the light of the sun suddenly illuminates the new and as yet uncharted planet. I have no idea if that was her intention when she took this image or if it was one of those shots where only afterwards do you realise what you have created but either way it is brilliant.

Penny for your Dirty Thoughts

Self portrait of penny being abducted

This is a startlingly powerful self portrait from Penny. The hair as a gag is so full of symbolism for me. Having your own hair, something strongly associated with feminine beauty, used to silence you, seems like a powerful metaphor to me and along with the grasping hand, which, although her own, appears disjointed and ‘other’ to her creates an image that in my opinion deserves a place on a gallery wall somewhere.

Blast from the Past

Sinful Sunday Week 56 – Curvaceous Dee

Curvaceous dee clevage and a cheeky smile

What I love about this image is not just the fabulous cleavage but the wonderful look on her face. She just looks full of naughty wickedness that I don’t think it is possible to look at this shot and not smile.

One Response

  1. As always, it flatters us tremendously to be included, especially amongst so many other talented photographers and sexy photos. Your glowing words are a thrill to read; to have my photography praised by one so talented as yourself doesn’t happen every day. Thank you!
