Sinful Sunday is all about the image…
I started Sinful Sunday in April 2011. It feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago.
My only plan for the meme was to take part myself and to see how it went. It started on my blog and only moved here to own’s subdomain once it became apparent that it was not only going to stay a regualr thing but that the amount of bloggers joining in was growing.
Back in the heyday of sex blogging most weeks there would be 30+ links and a few notable occassions we even got to the 50 mark. Imagine that now, 50 different sex blogs joining in? Sadly times have changed and the vast majority of those blogs are no more. I keep hoping their will be revival, well I was hoping but then the Online Safety Bill came into force and realised that was not going to happen. Not image based blogs that is. Writing, I suspect that is a different matter but images, sadly not.
The last few months I have let this project drift along. I have given up on the round up and this week I realised I had never posted a prompt for April. I don’t want this project to end in a slow demise of neglect but rather in decisive and celebratory action. For there is so very much to celebrate. Not just 14 years of inspiring me to post images but all those amazing images people have created in the name of Sinful Sunday, the friendships that have blossomed from it, the collaborative works, the joy and acceptance and self discovery. To have been part of that has been one of my greatest creative achievements. I will be forever proud of this project.
Knowing when to start something is a skill but I think knowing when let something go is even harder and the truth is I have been fighting it for a while now but when I realised I had not posted a monthly prompt and my feelings on that were not panic or sadness I knew the time had come.
SInful Sunday started on the 17th April 2011 and so it seems fitting to end on as close to that date as possible. Which means the very last link in weekend will be the 20th of April (also the day after my 53rd birthday) I will write more than but for now I wanted to let everyone know and if you could help to spread the word that would be brilliant. It would be lovely to end on a bang with lots of people joining in but also, even after 14 years I have no expectation above my own.

Each week there is a Sinful Sunday weekly round-up highlighting my (or one of the guest writers) top 5 images from the previous Sunday. All images used are fully credited and linked back to the original post. If anyone objects to having their image used in the round-up then you need to let me know, otherwise I will assume that by taking part you are happy to be featured on the Sinful Sunday site.
