The prompt for 1st November 2015 is: Shoot from Above
This month the prompt is more technical challenge about the angle/viewpoint from which you take your image. At some point we will tackle ‘Shot from below’ but trust me when I say that is a much more challenging proposition especially when it comes to bodies. Shooting down your body tends to me a much more flattering angle than shooting from below.
This time you need to take your image from above. Shooting in this way creates interesting perspectives and view points. If you are close to a subject then you can also play with the depth of field to draw the eye in to a particular detail or feature. You can also use this technique to create enhance a particular narrative or atmosphere. I have included a few examples below of a variety of ways in which taking your picture from above can be used.
Panties from Heaven by Maria Open’s Up – This one is shot directly, flat on, from above but the key was the inclusion of the toes within the shot which gave it context, without them this image would be too flat I think.
The Opposite of Standing by Cammies on the Floor – Amazing shot that offers a view very rarely seen of the human body.
Contemplation by Understanding Flutterby invites us into the space with her, with are the voyeurs but by taking the image from above we are given the full context of her surroundings and can ‘feel’ her vulnerability.
Squeaky Selfie by Curvaceous Dee looking up into the camera opens up the eyes and this shot by Dee shows that off perfectly combined with a teasing view down her body.
And finally Penny’s Dirty Thoughts. In this review it is the second image where she has used this technique to create a shot with a wonderful depth of field that really shows the toy off in all its glory and finally I am aware that this prompt will be Halloween weekend and so check out the third image in this series by Penny.
The prompt is published here on the site mid month, which will give people approximately 2 weeks to work on their idea before linking in, on the 1st weekend of the month. The prompt is completely optional and you can link in as normal on that weekend whether you have used the prompt or not. The usual Sinful Sunday rules will, of course, apply. Please make sure you have read them recently so that you are fully aware of what is and is not allowed.
As always interpret as you wish, or disregard altogether and do you own thing.
