Sinful Sunday Weekly Round-up 596
Welcome to Weekly Round-up 569. Don’t forget the prompt for October is out now and you have just over two weeks until prompt weekend.
Marsha’s Top 5 Pics of the Week
I was surprised (and grateful) to be asked to do the Sinful Sunday round-up, because I’ve never contributed and it’s unlikely that I ever will: I have zero photographic skills, and even less body confidence. As such, my choices were largely motivated by envy of those who have the ability to compose artistic photos, and of those brave enough to be in them. Also, I once wrote an entire book without ever describing the characters I could see clearly in my mind, because my brain is rubbish at converting visual to verbal, so forgive me as I stumble through explanations of what I loved in the pictures I chose.
This is perfect: peak envy for me. I love everything about this photo but particularly the way curves build on soft curves, and how the lines and shadows combine with those curves to draw the eye across a landscape of valleys and rolling hills. I know that’s a cliche, but for me this photo brings to mind the heavenly, gentle slopes of the South Downs: outstanding natural beauty.
It took me a moment to process what I was seeing, but as soon as I worked it out I knew I’d choose this one. I always appreciate clever composition and optical illusions, but especially when they combine to create something which makes me think beyond the picture itself. This is art.
Does anything need to be said about this one? An instant pick for me, it’s the definition of sexy: beautiful, bold, clever, creative, confident, and just cheeky enough. As a smut writer, it’s a perfect picture to inspire or illustrate a story. Someone at Holiday Inn knew exactly what they were doing when they created that card, and this is their reward.
There’s an art to taking a good dick pic — an art sadly missing from 99% of dick pics. This is among the 1%. Expanding the field of view creates context on top of context: the dick still draws the eye but it doesn’t exist alone, it belongs to a whole man, and both the man and his dick are taking their place in nature. Leaning back adds something in a way I can recognise but can’t identify: the opposing angles of body and penis just work, as does putting the dick in slight silhouette.
Nudity in nature is always a good start for a beautiful photo, but it still takes skill to bring the beauty out, so there’s double envy for me in this one: the composition of Tabitha’s pin-sharp photography, and the confident beauty of the model. Everything about this picture is striking, but three things stand out: the three distinct horizontal layers and the contrasts between them; how the model’s freedom is reflected, literally and figuratively, in the free-flowing water; and the way the rippled reflection obscures what was so perfectly exposed. Absolutely spectacular.
