Kelvin’s Top 5 Pics of the Week
Thank you Molly for asking me to curate Sinful Sunday this week! One of the things I love about Sinful Sunday is seeing the variety and diversity of the work that people create, and this week was no exception — it was a really tough decision deciding on five pieces to highlight!
Exposing 40
I love the energy of this picture — intimate and playful, cosy and colourful. I’m also really glad Exposing 40 included a camera roll screen grab — I love how bright the colours are, and how all the images are both varied enough that each feels unique, and yet together they feel like a coherent and complete set.
A to sub Bee
I love stark black-and-white kink photography! I think it works especially well here, emphasising the harshness of the boot that’s right in the centre of the frame. I also really like the first person point of view here — again, it really emphasises the power dynamic for me as a viewer.
SnapShotz
I love the interplay with and interpretation of previous artwork in this image! It’s incredibly clever, and I can’t imagine the work it must have taken to get the shot perfectly correct. The collage effect really reminds me of zines, which I love.
My Wild Lens
The soft lighting and colour palette here are absolutely perfect for the subject matter and tone — intimate and tender. The centred flowers are placed perfectly to draw the eye with their bright colour, with the two figures and their interaction with each other being what I noticed second. Lovely composition!
Corrupting Mrs Jones
The wider and pulled back frame really works to emphasise the landscape here, especially in terms of its scale. The word I keep coming back to when describing the feeling it gives me is ‘wonder’ — the landscape and the warm light on the central figure keep making me think about what a liberating experience this must have been!
